Split views

I've split two tabs in Chrome. Why can't I pin or move the pair in Clearing?

A few things you can do to a split pair from the tab strip aren't available to extensions yet. Rather than pull the two halves apart to fake them, Clearing tells you and leaves your pair intact.

A split pair appears as one card holding both pages, side by side or stacked to match how Chrome is showing it. Most of what you'd expect works: close the pair, drag it somewhere else in the grid, drag it into a group in the same window, or make a new group around it.

Four things aren't possible yet — pinning a split pair, unpinning it, moving it into a group in another window, and reordering it inside a group it already belongs to. All four work from the tab strip in the meantime.

Split tabs are new, and the support extensions need to work with them is still being built out. As it arrives, Clearing will do these too.

One thing to know: if you switch a split between side by side and stacked while you're looking at Clearing rather than at the split, Clearing won't see the change until you visit the split again.
